Why it Matters: Truflo Marine highlights the importance of quality supplier performance

On Wednesday 18th July, award winning organisation Truflo Marine, held its first key ‘Supplier Event’ to highlight the importance of quality supply chain partnerships.

Truflo Marine, who were announced as this year’s Midlands Excellence Award Winner back in March 2012, is a specialist manufacturer producing high integrity valves for warships, submarines and the nuclear sector.

In excess of twenty representatives from Truflo’s key suppliers attended the event which was held at their premises in Birmingham. The key theme of the day was ‘Why it Matters’-stressing the importance of supplier performance and the impact this has on major naval marine programmes.

Truflo has been a firm supporter of excellence for many years, first receiving the Investors in Excellence Standard in 2007 and continues to cascade the principles of excellence through all areas of its business.

Having experienced the benefits of working with IiE, Truflo invited IiE’s very own Judy Hart to attend the event as a guest speaker offering an insight into the world of excellence and how it can improve supply chain partnerships.

The event was led by Truflo’s Managing Director, Clayton Manley & Supplier Development Manager, Bob Beathe who during their presentations detailed why excellent supplier performance matters using live case studies to outline the benefits of strong communication, idea sharing and team work.

The day was complemented by presentations from some of Truflo’s key customers namely BAE & Babcock Marine.

One of the day’s highlights was an in depth site tour which enabled the delegates to meet a number of Truflo personnel and provided a real insight to the way Truflo works.

The event was hailed as a great success by all; further events will be held in the future at the premises of the participating suppliers.
