Julius Caesar ignored the warning of the Ides of March and was assassinated later that day. So what has that got to do with investment? Well absolutely nothing actually, other than possibly the need to consider reasonable warnings. Mind you if we twitched to every piece of fear factor that was muttered around the market I don’t think anyone would ever invest anything at all.
I am often asked when the best time to invest is – to which the answer is now. At these moments of seeing new record highs in many stock markets it is of course all too easy to find an excuse not to invest, but the truth from experience is down to that old phrase that it is “time in the market, not timing the market”.
