Congratulations to Walker Thompson for achieving re-certification of the Investors in Excellence Standard

“The Investors in Excellence Standard underpins the very core of our business. In our highly regulated operating framework it is essential that we commit to continuous improvement. It is simply not sufficient for us to stand still if we want to remain at the forefront of our sector.”

Founded in 1985, Walker Thompson is a general private practice of Accountants, Auditors, Tax Advisors and Business Consultants based in Coventry. The organisation was first recognised as an Investor in Excellence in 2008. The firm operates in the highly regulated financial sector serving clients across a wide range of business sectors from one man businesses to SME’s.

“Standards of excellence where perhaps once seen as being ‘nice to have’. The Investors in Excellence Standard has now become a fundamental ‘must have’, particularly when faced with economic recession” commented Mr Williams.

Following the recent re-certification, Ian Nield, Chief Executive of Investors in Excellence, said: “It is a fantastic achievement for Walker Thompson which has shown itself for many years to be truly committed to continuous improvement.”

As a general practice, Walker Thompson provides a hands-on, proactive approach in assisting its clients to fulfil their accounting and tax obligations. The firm also provides payroll and VAT services as well as more niche services often associated with much larger firms.

Mr Williams continued “Achieving the Standard has meant that we are properly prepared to succeed. The team at IiE have supported us throughout the process and we are now reaping the benefits.”

During 2010/11 Walker Thompson successfully expanded its client base and undertook Financial Due Diligence work on behalf of HSBC Bank in relation to the funding of a client for the acquisition of a metal finishing company in Telford. The firm has also advised upon the major restructuring of a Midlands charitable organisation, a Kidderminster based company specialising in fuel tankers and a Chesterfield based company dealing in architectural fittings.

“The Standard is a very valuable business improvement tool. Businesses which choose to ignore Continuous Improvement do so at their peril. If you cannot look after your customers properly then someone else will.”

Mr Williams concluded “Being certificated as an Investor in Excellence is the physical representation of what Walker Thompson believes to be necessary in providing the highest quality service levels to its clients whilst at the same time recognising the parts which others play in our success including our suppliers, partners and the community.”

Congratulations once again to Walker Thompson on continuing to be recognised as an Investor in Excellence.
